Melody Steinbart
Violin/Viola/Cello
At
age 8, Melody Steinbart began her violin study with Margaret Kew.
Desiring to teach, she pursued her bachelors in String Pedagogy (Summa
Cum Laude) from Maranatha Baptist University studying with Lewis Rosove
and her masters in Violin Performance (with Honors) from East Carolina
University studying with Hye-Jin Kim. In 2015, Melody received the
North Carolina Suzuki Institute scholarship to study Suzuki violin
volumes 1-10 through the long-term Suzuki teacher-trainer program with
Joanne Bath. Previous teachers include Ilana
Setapen, Elizabeth Pabon, and Suzanne Ignaszak. Melody has done summer study with Soh-Hyun Park Altino and Tim Klabunde. In 2017,
Melody began her studies on the cello with Tim Hammond and Braden Zitoun.
Currently, Melody regularly plays for the South Shore Chorale and enjoys preparing collaborative recitals on violin and viola. She has made several appearances as guest student artist in the Next Gen project with the Four Seasons Music Festival. Melody also co-founded the Credo Quartet, served as assistant and member of the Destella String Ensemble, won the 2012 and 2014 Commencement Competition at Maranatha Baptist University, and held the roles of concertmaster for both the East Carolina University Symphony and Maranatha Baptist University Symphony Orchestras. She has also played in masterclasses with Reiko Aizawa, Ilana Setapen, and Darcy Drexler.
